Holy Child College, South West, Ikoyi, Lagos, was started by the Society of the Holy Child Jesus on the 9th of April 1945 at the invitation of the late Archbishop Leo Taylor who wanted a good secondary education for girls in his Archdiocese.
The Society of the Holy Child Jesus, founded by Rev. Mother Cornelia in 1846 in England, was then well known all over the world for its educational programme for girls. Cornelia Connelly’s educational philosophy, dedicated to the growth of the whole child “in all learning and all virtues”, and thanks to our motto “Action not words” has guided Holy Child throughout its seven decades of existence, providing over three thousand young women with an excellent foundation for lives of achievement, service and fulfilment.
HCCOGA (UK) was established in 2003 by a group of UK based old girls with the aim of contributing to the college’s restoration back to its prestigious standard and to promote first class education for girls. We aim to achieve this by continuous fund raising activities and will continue to work tirelessly to raise the standard of the school for generations to come. HCCOGA UK has over 140 members on our mailing list and had helped set up the North America Branch in 2009
